MISTOS (ALICANTE)

Mistos School is a training center, action and reflection on the image born in 2003 in the Alicante cultural cooperative Mistos. We carry out photographic courses at different levels as well as specific training workshops for professionals. We organize and collaborate with other entities in photographic activities such as PhotoAlicante, conferences, photographic marathons, etc …. We promote creators with exhibitions and co-productions. And all this with a cooperative work and social base.

STUDENT & PROJECT: ANDRÉS LACONTRA  //  LA REGIÓN PERDIDA

La Region Perdida is a documentary work on a journey through a vague, timeless territory, and without any destination, purpose or motivation.

It ventures us into an inner journey and explores rootlessness, a brutal tedium and boredom feelings. Along the journey we will explore a world in decline, to try to reflect on the existential void that causes impaired, superficial and meaningless system.

CFD (BARCELONA)

CFD Barcelona is a photography and media documentary center based in Barcelona. A women association working cooperatively with a horizontal and collaborative structure manages it.

Since our opening in 2012 we offer a program of training courses, exhibitions, conferences and international exchange projects with the aim of generating debate and reflection on photography and new narrative documentaries. Our headquarters, a warehouse located in the neighborhood of Poble Sec, is a meeting place, teaching and creation for photographers, students and visual artists, a source of ideas and projects that we share with a network of cultural organizations and collaborators.

STUDENT & PROJECT: JOAN TORRENS  //  SALVANDO EL MALDÀ

In December 2014, the Barcelonan Cinema Malda sent a distress call. After months of very little affluence and canceled passes, the situation was reaching a point heading towards the end of the cinema.

Behind the emblematic cinema it is nothing but a small family business. Xavi and Natàlia open Maldà doors every day with a quality and original version movie listings. Putting all his effort to make the cinema does not disappear, they ask the public to come to visit them more often to keep it open for many years.

EASD (VALENCIA)

The Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de València is a center with a trajectory of more than 165 years where is offered qualified teaching in several fields of design. We offer three types of studies: Superior Grade training cycles // Design Studies // Masters // Courses.

Teruel is one of the most sparsely populated provinces of Spain. The arid and violent land builds the character of its people. And it is appreciated an unconscious resistance to globalization that opens cracks in their paths.

STUDENT & PROJECT:  JOAQUÍN URRUTIA  //  O(U)RO

O(u)ro is the meaning of a euro when they tried to speak Spanish. It is a project about the immigration crisis in an area of about 13 kilometers in Melilla, Spain in North Africa.
An impact of the arrival of some sub-Saharan Africans traveled from their countries to reach the hope to cross into Spanish territory and Arabs who entered illegally.
It was a tough experience and that’s what I want to show through the images.

EL OBSERVATORIO (BARCELONA)

El Observatori is an open and constanly evolving project dedicated to Photo Education in Barcelona. We consider the photographic act as the result of a subjective process and for this reason we insist on not defend any particular genre or style. We believe in a close, sincere and original photography.

On these basic principles we base our training plan to accompany the student focused on finding and developing their own language, beyond stereotypes and styles.

Quinceañera is a photographic project that aims to show the celebration party of the 15th anniversary of some Latin American girls residing in the city of Barcelona. Time goes chronologically the same for everyone. But the relevant dates, that divide our lives into measurable life remains, taking a capital importance in every culture. In a city like Barcelona, ​​they are often mixed and go unnoticed, especially for native eyes.
The celebration of 15 years is supposedly the happiest day in Aylin, Melanie, Lucero and the other girl’s life. They all know the ritual sonce they’re really young and get ready for the big time months before the party. Despite the distance with their countries of origin, they try to keep the essence of this tradition and plan it to the last detail.
Every father, mother and family designs a perfect party in his head. Among expectations, preparations and future plans every girl dreams their own way, to the entrance into the kingdom of the princesses.

ESCUELA DE ARTE DE HUESCA

The Huesca Art School is a public center where professional education in arts and design are taught, specialized in graphic and audiovisual communication. In addition to addressing the technical and theoretical issues specific to the current media, our goal is to build the capacities of students on personal effort in the development of creativity, entrepreneurship, and in the exercise of citizenship , to actively participate in economic, social and cultural life, with a critical and responsible attitude.

STUDENT & PROJECT: PABLO IBÁÑEZ  //  OJOS EN LOS BALCANES

A look at the Balkan route through which passed thousands of people fleeing the war searching for a refuge and place to settle. The photos were taken between February and March 2016 in different countries like Greece, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. The border closure has meant that 57,000 people are enclosed in different countries. A few months later the EU-Turkey agreement closed this route.

ESCUELA DE ARTE DE SEVILLA

The Sevilla Art School is a public training center where Bachelor of Arts, 19 training cycles, Superior Art Studies in Graphic Design and Interior Design are taught.

Our ambition is to provide the highest education quality and orient it to the professional art world, so we do many activities seeking linking our students with the artistic environment of our city.

Almost 25 years after the inauguration of the Universal Exposition in Seville in 1992, that event that marked for the city the encounter with art, modernity and the future, today shows a ghost town image, dystopian. This work presents a series of photographs of the current state of the enclosure and the remnants of its pet, taken on 35mm slide film

GRISART (BARCELONA)

A monochromatic tour through the realityof boxing in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, from suburban gyms to evenings in which European level titles are fought for.

We enter the everyday world of a brutal appearance, which is actually a space of nobility, respect and sacrifice. Between the strings is fought mainly against oneself.

MADPHOTO (MADRID)

Madphoto is a chill-out school to learn photography in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. We propose courses at all levels in flexible schedules for workers, students, pensioners, unemployed and freeloaders, and always end up with a beer!

IRMA has become a project for life, an act of exploration and discovery, although it started many years ago, now it takes a more serious and structured way, with a conscious determination. It continues to be the tool that helps me to observe her, in a deliberate way, seeking to understand more about her and the world she lives in.

IVASFOT has an experience of over fifteen years preparing students for the professional photography market. In our school we want to ensure a complete and advanced learning for our students to not find difficulties in choosing photography as a profession in all its aspects (reports, advertising, fashion, creative, etc …)

STUDENT & PROJECT: JILA MOKHTARI  //  COMO TU Y COMO YO, COMO CUALQUIERA

Coming from Iran, a Muslim country, and starting a new phase of life in the West, I have always been ready to approach other cultures with interest.

One of the things that struck me at first was to observe religious life in other settings besides a convent or monastery or church … To my watchful eyes, they, with their uniforms so clean, they stood out much in society: at the bus stop, in line at the supermarket, in such ordinary places where you’d go, where I go.

Awakened in me a mixture of inexplicable sensations: an immense desire to discover a new world, a lot of respect and something that had to do with the memories of my  diluted childhood, perhaps with my grandmother. Perhaps because of its humble appearance, their hair covered and serenity they transmitted.

Although it is true that cost me a lot of effort and dedication to found a convent where they were willing to open their doors to an unknown photographer, nor can I deny kindness and so welcoming attitude with which I found in the monastery of Santa Ana de Lazkao.

From the first contact I had with the Mother Superior, I knew I was in the right place. The cordiality with which I was treated and the kindness that I felt in every corner of the place have been the testimony of this positive first impression.

CASA DE LA IMAGEN (LOGROÑO)

La Casa de la Imagen is a private contemporary culture center specialized in image opened in 1982. Today it is located in the historic center of Logroño, in a XVIII century building, restored in 2007, equipped with gallery exhibitions, photography and video school and an image archive file that holds important historical backgrounds and contemporary photography, meeting rooms, classrooms, studios, laboratories, recording studio, library and specialized shop.

STUDENT & PROJECT: IMANOL LEGROSS  //  FONOLITAS

In the depths of Catalonia, between Vallfogona de Riucorb and Guimerá, it is the village of El Fonoll. Located in the center of an estate of 150 hectares. At the top of a hill, in between forest and scrub, live guests, visitors, volunteers and Emili Vives.

Guests and visitors are accommodated in simple rooms or apartments, and spend their holiday or retirement periods in communion with nature. Volunteers work in exchange for a roof to sleep and some tickets, which are exchanged for food in the village shop.

Emili Vives, owner of the place, coordinates economic management, maintenance of facilities, animal care and other activities of this oligarchic society, where it is not mandatory for volunteers go naked, but it is for the rest.
