PROJECT: MARIUPOL. FOUR SEASONS IN THE SHADOW OF THE WAR.
War in Donbas it is currently the only war in Europe. Mariupol is a story of an industrial city, the largest in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Donbass region that is directly affected by the war. The city, with a population of roughly 500,000, lies barely 10 km from the frontline. The rising costs of utilities due to the general economic crisis in the Ukraine have aggravated the economic situation. The frustration of its inhabitants has been deepened by the omnipresent corruption, so soldiers are fighting, but a politically divided city is trying to live normally in the shadow of the war. There, beneath the power politics and media buzz, little stories unfold against the backdrop of the war.
