JARQUE, LA CÁMARA Y LA VIDA // Paco JArque
5th june to 29th septiembre 2019
MUSEU VALENCIÀ D’ETNOLOGIA
This exhibition is part of a year in which several tributes are paid to Paco Jarque, an icon in the world of photography in Valencia who died in 2016.
Jarque’s long career is difficult to summarise. He was a prolific creator of images. In his archive we can find photos that summarise the memory, life and traditions of Valencia from the 1960s to the late 1990s.
Addicted to portraying parties in every corner he visited, both in Spain and abroad. I make a human world map from the faces of old, young, but above all, women.
In the exhibition we will be able to find a good number of portraits, the life of people working the land, the customs of the villages, the festivals, a little of his look on Valencia and a lot of him, as a person, as an artist, as a portrait painter, as a historian of a village and its people.
Paco was life, he was a photo and he was a friend of his Friends.
