PROJECT: KAYPACHA – TIERRA DEL SILENCIO
Kaypacha – Tierra del Silencio is a photo reportage about the cocaine route between Peru and Bolivia, showing the reality of one of the biggest problems in both countries, drug trafficking. The origin of this route begins in the valley of VRAEM, national emergency zone, with an annual harvest of 119,000 tons of coca and controlled by 16 drug clans billing 200 million dollars a month. Peru has become the largest exporter of cocaine worldwide representing 20% of world production. Bolivia suffers the consequences of this production and receives 70% of the drug, Bolivian elite police fight tirelessly to eradicate this business. The last year have seized 279 tons of cocaine.
