Son of a writer and a History of Art teacher Daniel Ochoa de Olza was born in Pamplona, on October 22, 1978.
His interest turned from painting to photography in 2001 when he started studying artistic photography in Pamplona and later in Barcelona.
He became a full time relation with Associated Press in 2005 and has been an AP staff photographer since 2009 covering a wide variety of breaking news and features, being a key photographer with the AP team shooting the Greece & Spanish financial crisis, Paris attacks aftermath, Athletics and Swimming at the Olympics, World Cup Soccer final in South Africa, America’s Cup sailing race, the British Royal Wedding, tens of F1 and Moto GP races and Champions League matches, Fashion weeks etc. As a photographer Daniel has a personal interest in ethnography.
His work has received a number of awards in international contests including various World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year International, National Headliner Awards, NPPA, CHIPP, The Photographers Giving Back Award, etc.
Daniel has led master classes, workshops and conferences in several Spanish Universities and education centers.
Is currently based in Madrid, Spain.
