Calcio Storico
El Calcio Fiorentino es una forma temprana de fútbol. Las reglas oficiales del Calcio fueron escritas por primera vez en 1580 por Giovanni de Bardi . Originalmente, el Calcio lo practicaban los aristócratas ricos e incluso Papas sabían jugar.
Ahora, el torneo se celebra la tercera semana de junio en la Plaza de la Santa Croce .
Cuatro equipos que representan a los barrios de Florencia se enfrentan entre sí en las primeras semifinales.
Los ganadores pasan a la final que se juega todos los años el 24 de junio, el día del santo patrón de Florencia, San Giovanni. El ganador final es honrado con una vaca.
Los equipos están formados por 27 jugadores y la pelota se puede jugar ya sea con los pies o las manos, pueden combatir utilizando tácticas como empujones, codazos y todas las técnicas de artes marciales, pero prohíbe patadas a la cabeza y pelea de dos o más contra uno.
El campo de juego es un foso de arena gigante, con una estrecha ranura que constituye el objetivo de ejecutar el ancho de cada extremo. El Calcio Storico no se jugó durante 200 años reviviendo en 1930. En 2006 el torneo fue suspendido por 2 años tras grandes disturbios entre el equipo blanco y el equipo azul….

The Calcio Fiorentino is an early form of football. The official rules of Calcio were written for the first time in 1580 by Giovanni de Bardi. Originally the Calcio was played for rich aristocrats and even Popes were know to play.
Now, the tournament is held the third week of june at the La Santa Croce Square.
Four teams representing the neighborhoods of Florence face each other in the first semifinals.
The winners go to the final played every year on june 24, the day of the Saint Patron of Florence, San Giovanni. The final winner is honored with a cow.
The teams are formed by 27 players and the ball can be played either with feet or hands, they can fight using tactics such a punching, elbowing and all martial art techniques, but forbids kicks to the head an fights of two or more against one.
The playing field is a giant sand pit with a narrow slit constituting the goal running the width of each end. The Calcio Storico was not played for 200 years reviving in 1930. In 2006 the tournament was suspended for 2 years after big riots between the White team and the Blue Team….
