Francisco Moltó Esquembre (València, 1939) is an authentic “farmer of photography”, as he defines himself. A purist who has not abandoned chemical photography. He is still “pulling the reel” at almost 80 years of age.
A lover of German culture (he worked there in the 1960s) and as a result of this Germanic discipline, he catalogues and digitizes all his negatives of the photographs he continues to take on the street. And he’s already on reel number 2027 (“As far as we know”).
In 2012 he held an anthological exhibition at the MuVIM entitled “Faces of the City…”. Photographs 1962 – 2009″ where he collected a wide selection of works from more than 50 years of work.
The current exhibition could be said to be the continuation,that “will continue…” that was put on the television series before, a kind of “extra ball” that Moltó, that unrepentant artisan of photography, gives us.
With his analog camera, this master of Valencian street photography invites us to see his latest captures taken mainly in the city of València, but also in other parts of Europe as a discreet and tenacious spy.
