IDEA/PROYECTO:
Desde su creación, PhotOn Festival ha dedicado una parte importante de su programación a respaldar la fotografía realizada por autores que todavía no son conocidos por el público a través de la Convocatoria PhotOn para Autores Noveles, que estructura todas las actividades referentes a este colectivo, como son la convocatoria de la IV Beca PhotOn Festival, las sesiones de Visionado de portfolios, así como las Proyecciones de autores noveles.
Dentro de este marco de actuación lanzamos un año más la IV Beca PhotOn Festival con las siguientes bases de participación, a continuación detalladas.
REQUISITOS PARA PARTICIPAR
Quienes deseen participar en la convocatoria deberán cumplir los siguientes requisitos:
1. Podrán participar exclusivamente autores noveles. Se considerará novel a cualquier autor, independientemente de su edad, cuya trayectoria profesional no esté consolidada, no haya recibido ningún galardón de importancia ni haya visto publicado su trabajo en medios de comunicación de envergadura en el apartado de reportaje. La organización se encargará de comprobar con la biografía del autor y la información pública disponible el currículo de todos los seleccionados.
2. Sólo se admitirán trabajos inéditos, es decir, que no hayan sido comunicados ni mediante publicaciones, ni exposiciones, ni hayan resultado premiados en otros certámenes similares. Tampoco se admitirán trabajos con más de dos años de antigüedad. Los trabajos finalizados antes de enero de 2012 no serán admitidos. Sí serán admitidos aquellos que sigan en proceso de creación independientemente de su fecha de comienzo.
3. El autor se hace cargo de todas las responsabilidades derivadas de posibles reclamaciones por derechos de terceros sobre las imágenes y/o reclamaciones realizadas por los sujetos protagonistas del reportaje, bien sean personas físicas o jurídicas.
Tan sólo se aceptarán trabajos fotoperiodísticos o de documento social, por lo que quedarán excluidos inmediatamente aquellos que no reúnan este importante e imprescindible requisito.
INSCRIPCIÓN/ PRESENTACIÓN DE PROYECTOS:
PRESENTACIÓN DE CANDIDATURAS
Plazo límite de admisión: 31/03/2014. AMPLIADO AL 15/04/2014
La presentación de los trabajos se realizará en formato digital a través de correo electrónico a la dirección: noveles@photonfestival.com indicando en el asunto “Convocatoria autores noveles”. El plazo límite de admisión de propuestas finalizará a las 24.00 horas del 31 de marzo de 2014
MATERIALES A PRESENTAR
· El autor tiene la posibilidad de entregar una sola serie fotográfica o reportaje.
· Archivos digitales en formato jpeg de 1.500 píxeles el lado más largo.
. 15 imágenes como máximo y 10 como mínimo, todas pertenecientes al mismo reportaje o serie.
· Breve dossier que incluya una breve biografía y currículum del autor, así como un texto sobre el trabajo, si procede, indicando por lo menos el título de la serie.
. No se aceptará ningún reportaje en formato de vídeo u otro formato no descrito en estas bases.
PROCESOS DE SELECCIÓN
Una vez finalizado el plazo de admisión de inscripciones, la organización seleccionará 10 finalistas, que participarán en las Jornadas de visionado de portfolios. En ellas tendrán la oportunidad de editar y corregir su trabajo con los miembros del jurado, compuesto por los ponentes del festival, destacados expertos y profesionales del sector del fotoperiodismo. Asimismo, los seleccionados formarán parte de la programación de las proyecciones nocturnas en el contexto de PhotOn Festival 2014.
La comunicación de los finalistas y publicación de los seleccionados para participar en los visionados de portfolios y proyecciones nocturnas será el 20 de abril de 2014.
MATERIAL PARA VISIONADOS Y LAS PROYECCIONES
Formato de presentación de trabajos para el visionado:
· Nº de imágenes: Máximo de 40 fotografías pertenecientes a una serie o unidad temática.
· Dimensiones: El lado mas largo de la imagen debe tener una longitud mínima de 10 cm y máxima de 15cm.
. Formato de presentación de audiovisuales para el visionado:
· Formato de vídeo y duración: formato AVI y máximo 4 minutos de duración.
Photon Festival se reserva el derecho de rechazar aquellas solicitudes que no cumplan los requisitos y condiciones especificados en la presente convocatoria.
La fecha límite para la presentación de audiovisuales para las Proyecciones Nocturnas, (sólo seleccionados) será el 30 de abril de 2014.
Durante la fase de Visionado de Portfolios la organización velará porque cada uno de los seleccionados disponga del mismo tiempo de visionado y su proyecto puedan ser así debidamente revisado por todos los miembros del jurado.
PREMIADO IV BECA PHOTON FESTIVAL:
De entre los 10 finalistas, el jurado elegirá durante las sesiones de Visionado de portfolios, un autor que será galardonado con la IV Beca PhotOn para autores noveles. El premio consistirá en la producción de la obra ganadora en el Festival y su posterior exposición en la convocatoria del año siguiente junto con el trabajo de los fotógrafos invitados. Dicho premio será anunciado en la última sesión de proyecciones y en la web a partir del día siguiente.
Los trabajos finalistas serán proyectados en la programación de Proyecciones Nocturnas, que tienen lugar por las noches dentro del programa oficial del festival.
CRITERIOS DE VALORACIÓN
El jurado, formado por miembros de la organización del PhotOn Festival y los autores que participan en la sección oficial del festival, valorarán:
· Unidad temática de la serie y adecuación de las elecciones técnicas y formales al tema.
· Temáticas que indaguen en aspectos poco visibles de la sociedad, aportando un acercamiento a aquellas realidades que habitualmente no son objeto de la atención de los medios de comunicación.
· Calidad, solidez y coherencia de la propuesta.
CALENDARIO
20 diciembre 2013: Anuncio de la convocatoria y apertura del periodo de inscripción.
31 Marzo 2014: Cierre del periodo de inscripción y recogida de candidaturas.(ampliado al 15 de Abril)
20 Abril 2014: Comunicación de los 10 finalistas y publicación de los seleccionados para participar en los Visionados de Portfolios y Proyecciones Nocturnas. Debido a la ampliación del plazo para recibir trabajos de la beca, posponemos el anuncio de los finalistas al 23 de abril de 2014. MUCHAS GRACIAS POR VUESTRA PARTICIPACIÓN!
30 Abril 2014: Fecha límite para la presentación de audiovisuales para las Proyecciones Nocturnas. (sólo seleccionados)
15 al 17 Mayo 2014: Sesiones de visionado de portfolios y proyecciones nocturnas (sólo trabajos seleccionados).
Fallo del jurado.
En la última sesión de proyecciones del festival y en la web a partir del día siguiente.

La participación en la Convocatoria Photon para Autores Noveles presupone la aceptación de las bases que la rigen y que quedan expuestas públicamente en la presente convocatoria. Por el simple hecho de participar, el fotógrafo acredita que es autor de todas las fotografías y que ninguna de ellas contraviene en forma alguna a ningún derecho público o privado.

From it’s creation back in 2011, the PhotOn Festival has made an effort to dedicate a very important part of its program to support the works done by the novel authors, photographers who want to have a place in PhotOn. The Open Call for Novel Authors provides an opportunity to participate, as well as the structuring of all the related activities, such as the Open Call itself, portfolio review sessions and screening sessions.
From here we launch once again the IV PhotOn Grant with the following terms and conditions:
REQUIREMENTS:
Those who aim to participate in the Open Call must meet the following requirements:
1. Only the Novel Authors will be allowed to participate in the competition. An author is considered a Novel Author regardless of age, whose career has not yet been consolidated, has received no major award and has not seen his work published in the major media. The organization will check the biography of the author and the public information available, and all CVs of the finalist works.
2. Only unpublished work will be accepted; works that have not been communicated through publications nor exhibitions, nor have won prizes in other similar contests. No works with more than two years will be accepted unless they are still in the process of creation.
3. The author is responsible for all liabilities arising from potential claims by third party rights on the images and / or claims made by the story subjects, whether natural or legal persons.
Documentary photojournalism or social work will only be accepted, so those which do not meet this important and essential requirement will be immediately excluded.
REGISTRATION/PROJECT SUBMISSION:

HOW SUBMIT YOUR WORK?
· The author has the possibility to submit a single photographic series or a story.
· Digital files must match jpeg 1500 pixels on the longest side.
· 15 images max and 10 minimum, all belonging to the same story or series.
· Brief bio of the author and CV, as well as a text about the work. If applicable, indicating at least the title of the series.
· No submission will be accepted on video format or any other format not described in these terms.
SELECTION PROCESS
Once the deadline for registration is completed, the organization will select 10 finalists who will participate in the days of Portfolio Review. They will have the opportunity to edit and discuss their work with the members of the jury, leading experts and professionals from the photojournalism industry. They will also take part in the night time shows while screening their work for the public as part of the screening session of Photon Festival 2014. Communication and publication of the finalists participating in the Portfolio Review and evening screenings will be April 20th, 2014.
MATERIAL FOR PORTFOLIO REVIEWS AND SCREENINGS
Submission format for Portfolio Review:
· Number of pictures: 40 Maximum images from a series or thematic unit.
· Dimensions: The longest side of the image must have a minimum length of 10 cm and height of 15 cm.
. Audiovisual presentation format for Portfolio Review:
· Video Format and length: AVI format and up to 4 minutes.
Photon Festival keeps the right to reject applications that do not meet the requirements and conditions specified in this call.
The deadline for submission of audiovisual content for screening (finalists only) is 30 April 2014.
During the Portfolios Review the organization will ensure that each one of the finalists will have the same time with all the professionals so their work can be properly reviewed by all members of the jury.
AWARD WINNER OF THE IV PHOTON FESTIVAL GRANT:
Between the 10 finalists, the jury will select through the Portfolio Review sessions, a winner who will be awarded with the IV Photon Festtval Grant for Novel Authors. The prize will be the production of the winning entry in the Festival and subsequent exhibition in the announcement of the following year along with the work of the invited photographers. The award will be announced at the last session of screening and on the website from the following day.
The finalist works will be screened during the official night sessions, which will take place at La Nau University.
ENDPOINTS:
The jury, made up of members of the Photon Festival organization and professionals involved in the official section of the festival will value:
· Theme Unit of the set and how the formal and technical choice match the story
· Topics which will show non evident aspects of society, providing a different approach to those realities which are usually not part of the media.
· Quality, consistency and coherence of the proposal.
CALENDAR:
December 20th 2013: Call entry and open registration period.
March 31st, 2014: Closing date for registration and collection of applications (extended to April 15).
April 20th, 2014: Communication of the 10 finalists selected to participate in the Portfolio Reviews and Screenings of Nocturnal Projections.
Due to the extension of the deadline to receive works for the novel authors grant, we will announce the ten finalists on april 23rd 2014

LEGAL LIABILITY

Simply by submitting an entry, the photographer assumes the credited authory of all pictures submitted and that none of them in any way, are against any public or private right.
